You can propose in accordance with the form 1 “Proposal for a New Eco Mark Product Category E It is decided whether selected as a new product category or not after research on the product and market, deliberation of Eco Mark Committee for Establishing Category and Criteria.

Proposal for new product category is free of charge. |

Following 3 points are taken into consideration;
1) Environmental preservation effect of the product/product utilize is immense.
2) Desire of consumers to select the product category is strong.
3) The market share is large.

Q5.Can we view the results of proposal and selection in the past? |
| |
The result is notified to the proposer and also opened to public on a newsletter and website in Japanese language. The information of proposer is not opened. |

Q6.How long does it take to start acceptance of examination application from the consideration of new product categories? |

It takes 1 to 1 and half years from product category selection. |

Q7.Who actually consider the certification criteria? |
| |
A draft certification criteria is developed at a Working Group under Committee for Establishing Category and Criteria. Working Group is well balanced with 3 parties; enterprises, consumer groups and experts from neutral organizations.

Q8.What elements are considered for certification criteria? |
| |
Environmental background, scope of the products, terminology, environmental criteria, quality criteria, how to prove and how to indicate the mark. Above those, Interpretation of the discussion at a working group, attached table and Certificates formats are included.

Q14.Are certification criteria revised? |
| |
Validity Period of the certification criteria is basically 5 years. Even before the validity period, partial revisions are made whenever appropriate. Usually new version of certification criteria is established before 1 year of expiry date of current version. |
